Shabaka's Stone For Children: An African Star Story + AUTOGRAPH

Somewhere around 710 years before the common era (BCE), Neset Bity (Pharaoh) Shabaka directed his scientists and scholars to rewrite the work of their ancestors titled, “The Memphite Theology.” This ancient creation story was written on either papyrus or leather and had been damaged by time and climate. King Shabaka had the Memphite Theology carved on black basalt stone and the story tells a metaphoric drama that outlined the coming into being and continuing process of becoming of the cosmic universe. They enhanced this process by comparing and contrasting the pattern in all living things in the cosmos and on earth. The ancient African scholars who studied and taught biology, made comparisons to the development of the divine human embryo. Other scholars in different subject areas made the same comparisons with this cosmic allegory.
